Naturally Restoring The Aging Face
Chrissy Thomas, RN
The antiaging market can be completely overwhelming. I am asked time and again how I manage to choose new products and services to improve the offerings at About Face when there is so many things to choose from. Surprisingly, this overwhelming industry is actually very simple when it comes to caring for the aging face.
When looking at the face of a twenty-year-old, it is obvious to see the youthful plumpness in the cheeks. The skin will most likely have smaller pores and light reflection on the surface. Eyes may be genetically hooded but will typically look rested and bright. Jowls will not be an issue for these youngsters. Now, think of a 65-year-old. Skin may appear less supple and duller. Brown spots and red patches may be present, and creases may begin to be noticeable. While skin is a big factor in the aging face, the shape of the face is an even greater issue in anti-aging. With volume loss in the cheek and jawline area, jowls and sagging necks are a constant discussion in my practice.
Beauty is about enhancing what you have. Let yourself shine through.

While surgery is a more comprehensive fix to these issues, many clients do not want to consider a surgical option for a variety of reasons. This is where About Face Skin Care is an excellent resource. Our approach to non-surgical face lifting is one that layers different technologies to smooth skin, lift facial and neck muscles and build collagen in the tissue. Once the effects of these treatments are seen, we will evaluate for the need for injectable fillers or other treatments to give the most refreshed look possible. Where a surgical option yields immediate results, the non-surgical approach will be more subtle. Clients are often asked if they have lost weight or changed their makeup. Our goal with these treatments is to make our clients look as fresh and youthful as possible for their age. Creating change in aging tissues will look more natural and have a better result if time is taken to allow the body to use these treatments to make more collagen and repair tissue to be healthier. “Rome wasn’t built in a day…”, “Patience is a virtue”, you know what we are saying!
When considering the path to anti-aging, each client will need to consider what is important to them. Often, we see celebrities take this anti-aging restoration too far. Bloated cheeks and fat lips can be a turn-off to men and women who want to look their best for their age and not look overdone. Some enjoy those types of obvious enhancements, and those clients have many options in our practice if that is what they choose. That is a different article for another time. For restoration of the aging face, About Face Skin Care would love to be your resource.
