His fascination with light was further kindled after buying his first home in Monroe, GA. He wanted to use light to his advantage in his new home, finding unique and creative ways to illuminate his home. His experiments with indoor lighting were successful, and he began exploring ways to use light in other facets of his home. Pools, decks, and fences allowed Nix to utilize a number of different fixtures to accent a variety of structures. Soon, friends and family noticed the work Nix was doing, and he began to receive calls asking for help lighting the homes of friends and family. It was evident to Nix and all those who witnessed his ability to transform a space with light that he had a talent, and Excalibur Lighting was born.
