Gwinnett Showroom to Remain a Fixture in the Community
Georgia Lighting is the new lighting showroom that almost wasn’t. Tens of thousands of commuters see a beautiful lighting showroom on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard every day. With an expansive front window filled with hundreds of glistening LEDs drawing evening and early-morning drivers’ eyes, this elegant building has been an iconic presence for 25 years. Previously known as Colonial Lighting, it has served the North Metro area with an unparalleled balance of selections, value, and friendly customer service. However, in 2020 its corporate owners decided to consolidate several of their businesses, and they eliminated this Gwinnett showroom from their holdings. Frank Therrien, who was running their lighting business at the time, believed there was still much more to accomplish for builders, designers, and retail customers in the communities he had been serving for years. So… in the middle of a pandemic… he decided to start a new lighting business in the same location.
And thus, Georgia Lighting was born. Or reborn. Georgia Lighting was once a decades-old Atlanta-based specialty lighting business. It closed in 2005, much to the dismay of many who appreciated Georgia Lighting’s tradition of providing quality products with a quality team. Mr. Therrien had competed with Georgia Lighting in the early 2000s and always held them in high regard. So he decided to reopen the beloved Sugar Hill location as Georgia Lighting this past December. “I saw an opportunity to bring new life to a grand old name in the industry. It is working well for us. But I also consider it a form of homage to the great people who made Georgia Lighting what it once was. I aim to do justice to a name that carries such a rich tradition with it.”
Located at 120 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Sugar Hill, the team at Georgia Lighting has completely revitalized what was already considered one of the nicest lighting showrooms in the South. Inside and out, the design and selection reflect today’s style preferences.
“We cover a lot of ground here. We carry the latest in lighting designs, as well as a wide range of indoor and outdoor fans, home décor and furniture, and even LED mirrors. We can take care of houses ranging from under $250,00 to over $2,500,000.” Therrien continued, “Our guests tell us regularly that there’s more style diversity displayed here than in the other showrooms they visited. Moreover, we also hear from our guests that we did something they really appreciated: We came over, asked how we could help, and showed a genuine interest in helping them achieve their objectives.”
“It’s tougher than ever to compete in today’s environment. Although the recent pandemic has so many people buying products online, we offer many compelling reasons to shop locally. Our pricing is comparable, and often lower. But it’s the personal service that makes all the difference. We think people really want to support local businesses. We appreciate that, and work hard to earn it, every day.”
